Bron

Well… Bron’s in hospital. It’s unbelievable really – just a few days ago I saw her and all was perfectly well, and I never would have imagined we’d be at this point, here and now, just a handful or hours later.

The story so far…

Bron was at the beach Sunday with Rachel and whoever else, and suddenly collapsed. Apparently something of a seizure, with a bit of turning blue and throwing up. Not long after, she’s in Alfred hospital in intensive care. Initially the thought was that it was something to do with her heart, given – from memory – her history there, but no… via Kim tonight I learn that both her kidneys have failed. She’s in a medically induced coma to keep her stable, but isn’t doing well… she can’t be operated on (i.e. a transplant) in her current condition, and even to be put onto dialysis has to improve overnight, tonight.

Although I don’t want to believe it or say it, Kim says the doctors have given her a 1% chance of survival.

But I don’t buy that. “Cynical” might be in the top three words people use to describe me, but I’m not going to believe that’s the way it is.

I really really hope I can laugh at this a week from now, when it all blows over and turns out to be nothing more than a big scare. ’till then, my thoughts and wishes are out to Bron. Don’t ever let go.
